June 2008
Four of the five "Sueppies" from the Suede X Cappy (CH Boulder's Power of Persuasion JH CD RE X 3X BISS CH Sunnyside's Harbor Master JH) breeding, enjoyed their first real bird day this past Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 17 weeks of age. They were introduced to the cover at the Cobb Lake State Wildlife Area in northern Colorado.
Coming out to play were:
Guinness
(Boulder's Celtic Power)
Montana aka "Monty"
(Boulder's Power to Rise 'N Shine)
Peak
(Boulder's Power of the Rockies JH)
Trip
(CH Boulder's N Fusion's Power Trip SH) Check out her pages on Boulder Vizslas and Fusion Vizslas
Their previous exposure to birds was limited to a couple of times to test them for pointing, interest, and intensity. The four to come out and play live in Colorado and are blessed to have families who understand the importance of how exposure to birds when the pups are young can really bring out their natural hunting instincts. Read our philosophy on field training to learn more about our approach and how we believe young dogs should be handled.
All of the families were impressed with the pups' natural instincts and intelligence. These Vizsla puppies are a talented bunch! A HUGE thanks to our good friend Ken Koebel (a Weimaraner guy), for joining us and for providing all sorts of insight on working with baby bird dogs.
The fifth Sueppie, Vega (Boulder's Starpower Of Sentryfier), is now a Canadian. The bird day would have involved quite a bit of travel time for her and her family so they obviously skipped it! Because Vega went to a home where field work is one their passions, she's already had exposure to birds and will continue to get lots more.
